Winter Event

It hit me this morning that it is getting to the time of year which invariably gets me pining for City of Heroes. When the anticipation of the ski chalet being opened and the excitement of the festive season creeps up on us. Readying my Santa hat for the multiple Baby runs and slalom attempts. Getting the truck badge on alts I had created since the last time. The Winter Event was a favourite of almost everybody for a few weeks, reaping their candy canes for temps, costume and badges from the Candy Keeper and Father Time. Re-learning the slalom course, still undecided which way was quickest on the ski slope. And that jingly music in the background! As the festive season drew to an end there would be fewer and fewer people at the chalet and I would have to force myself into another run before it closed for the rest of the year.

I'm sure I'm not alone in still missing the game after all these years. A grown, middle aged man pining after a; lets face it; low-fi game by today's standards. Yet I would sign up like a shot if it was re-released if only to feel that feeling I had when I entered Atlas Park for the first time, not even being able to fly and still thinking I was super.

I was so off-the-charts bad at the slalom races that I just gave up. I still got the Trucker badge for all my alts, though.

I found that the ski slope was easier without Speed Boost - going slightly slower gave more control.
